First Time we Met:

The very first time we met was at Cracking resort lodge up at Many Point Scout Camp. It was the very first week of my first year at camp and everyone from all the camps would all go to Cracking and have a few drinks. I remember being introduced to Jacob at one of the tall tables just before the back room. I had thought holy crap he is good looking! This is not the weird little brother I had envisioned when Amelia mentioned him.

That whole summer at camp I did not tell anyone I had a crush on him. Actually, I remember telling my tentmate Sara I didn't trust him. He was way too good looking to be as kind and nice as he actually is. Amelia(Jacob's sister) stayed in the tent with Sara and I for the last two weeks of camp. I would try to tag along all the time when she would go out with Evan and Jacob (I knew I was probably annoying but went anyways).

Our first date was actually an accident. Jacob said he was in the cities and invited me to play Frisbee and go to the state fair with a bunch of camp friends. When I got there everyone was done with frisbee and decided not to go to the State Fair anymore. So we decided to go alone. Jacob still has the little stuffed dog we found on the side of the road (Named Kah-big-el, Kabigl). After, we went to La Cucaracha for lunch. He insisted that he paid and that was when I realized that we might have been on a date this whole time.

First Time we Met:

Tara and I first met up at Many Point Scout Camp during the summer of 2011.  She had been recruited by a friend of mine to be on staff that year, and for months before we met I was told she was perfect for me.  We finally met during the beginning of the summer at Ice Cracking Lodge during the first night the staff could go out.  I had spent the first part of the night chatting and catching up with old friends before settling down at a table with my close friends and Tara.  Over the course of the night, the table slowly emptied until it was just Tara and me.  We spent the rest of the night talking and before I knew it, it was time to head back to camp to beat curfew.  We hung out a few times during the summer on weekends in groups, but nothing happened until after the end of the summer.

Our first date came the weekend after the summer ended.  I had planned to visit the Twin Cities to see some of my college friends, but those plans fell through and I was without a place to stay.  Luckily, a friend of mine from Many Point was having a party so I attended to kill time and have a place to stay.  During that party, I ran into one of Tara’s friends who, after talking for a bit, gave me Tara’s number and we started texting that night.  I invited her to hang out with a few camp people and me at the Minnesota State Fair the next day.  As fate would have it, everyone decided not to go and Tara and I were left alone.  We talked about how going to the State Fair wasn’t a date and we walked around the fair for a few hours.  Tara was “sick” from the night before, so we ended up not doing anything other than walking around and sitting on benches.  After the State Fair we went out to a Mexican restaurant down the street and I paid, after some fighting on who would pay.  We both said that it wasn’t a date, but it was.
